SHOULD WE BE STOCKING UP?
It's hard not to get a little worried with all that's going on at the moment. We have fielded hundreds of calls with people wanting to know what to do. Unfortunately our crystal ball is broken and one cannot predict what will happen tomorrow. Every day things change at the moment so we will keep you updated of any measures that will severely effect supplies other than toilet paper. But at this point in time there is no need for panic. The bare supermarket shelves are a consequence of panic buying and the supply lines 'just-in-time' management failing to cope with the spike in purchases. It is still the weekend in Europe now so we will have more news overnight and keep updating you accordingly.
CORONA VIRUS & GLOBAL TRADE
You would have to be living with your head in the sand not to have heard of the direct impact the Corona Virus is having on Global trade. Not only has it slowed down the movement of goods around the globe, but the financial impact is continually increasing. The Volatility it is having on all currencies and markets will effect us all. Compounded with the fact the AUD is at 11 year low's and prices of raw commodity ingredients continue to rise it is inevitable that prices will rise . Australia's reliance on the rest of the world for foodstuffs is at all time highs as local manufacturers and growers continue to fall away because operating costs in Australia have skyrocketed and internationally sourced produce is still cheaper to procure. This paints a poor picture for the future but not without hope. Here at Torino we continue to look both nationally and internationally for better and more affordable alternatives for your business.

AFRICAN SWINE FLU TO CAUSE MAJOR SHORTAGE AND PRICE INCREASES
The deadly pig virus that jumped from Africa to Europe is now ravaging China’s $128 billion pork industry and spreading to other Asian countries, an unprecedented disaster that has prompted Beijing to slaughter millions of pigs. But stopping African swine fever isn’t so easy. The virus that causes the hemorrhagic disease is highly virulent and tenacious, and spreads in multiple ways. There’s no safe and effective vaccine to prevent infection, nor anything to treat it. The widespread presence in China means it’s now being amplified across a country with 440 million pigs—half the planet’s total—with vast trading networks, permeable land borders and farms with little or no ability to stop animal diseases.
